Valerie is a NJ born, raised and based fashion stylist of Cuban American descent. She entered the fashion realm through the backdoor by selling vintage clothing, accessories and jewelry as inspiration to high fashion design teams. Having cut no corners, Valerie’s knowledge and expertise in the field of vintage and fashion history is instinctual. She earned a degree in Fashion Merchandising at Miami International University of Art & Design as well as a BA in Mass Communications from Florida International University with a focus in Advertising with a minor in Art History and Philosophy. During her studies at FIU, Valerie completed an internship at the latin-american media powerhouse, Televisa Publishing, where she fell in love the world of magazine editorial. Having assisted fashion's most influential and demanding stylists on commercial and editorial projects (i.e. Aeri Yun, Patti Wilson, Barabara Baumel, Carine Roitfeld and Joanna Hillman to name a few), Valerie honed her styling skills in the fast paced world of fashion production.
Assisting naturally lured Valerie back to New York in 2012. Here she began building her network of equally talented and passionate collaborators. While in New York Valerie has had the privilege of building her collection of fashion stories, sourcing vintage from Manhattan’s upper echelon estates, and has had her work featured in publications such as Vogue Mexico, L’Officiel and Hampton’s Magazine. She has also acted as an in house archivist for the retailer Opening and Ceremony, dating and cataloging over 2,000 garments for the brand in 2013.
Valerie offers her expertise of fashion history, trend forecasting and styling as a consultant to brands.
She currently resides in Hudson County, NJ and runs a vintage clothing business.
